NATIONAL DEBATE FORUM | oNLINE TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

Our curriculum directors and senior instructors have spent the last 12 weeks teaching classes online. Using this experience, we have started mocking up our tentative schedule for our two week public forum institute to help you understand what an online day will look like.

It’s our goal that we do not depart from what makes the National Debate Forum the best summer institute - but rather, we have created opportunities to enhance our programming.

You will notice that in our differentiated curriculum, students will learn approaches that are targeted to exactly where they are in their development process.

Some highlights of our schedule:

  • No lab session will be more than two hours. We understand that Zoom fatigue is a real thing, that’s why we will have a built out curriculum that keeps your students engaged even during the lab periods.

  • More opportunities to apply skills. You will notice that we have intensified the amount of skill drills offered throughout every level. Skill drills offer students a small group experience to practice a specific skill with instructors who are not their lab leaders. This allows them to access all instructors while not sacrificing the importance relationship building we foster in our lab sessions.

  • Lecture Sessions will be interactive and provide a hybrid model of asychronous and synchronous learning. Every lecture in 2022 will be broken into pre-recorded segments to help facilitate your students the opportunity to watch the lectures more than once. After every pre-recorded segment, the instructors will offer a live question & answer session to help your students engage with our curriculum directly.

As we believe in transparency at the National Debate Forum, we will continue to update this page with details as our senior instructors complete them. In these times we understand that a generic outline of a day isn’t good enough - that’s why we’ve mocked up the first five days of camp. If you have any questions about our Public Forum curriculum, please email Jeffrey Miller at info@summitdebate.com.
